In 2023, the most searched thing on Google was “YouTube,” which took the top keyword spot for the fourth consecutive year. Will it win in 2024? Without a crystal ball, there is only one way to answer that. Let’s look into the data. So far, the data says yes. But let’s dig a bit deeper. In this post, I am going to share with you the 100 Google most searched terms in 2024 that I have added to my list.

Key Statistics: The Most Searched Keywords Worldwide

The keywords (KW) reveal a lot about what we like to search for online. Big names like Amazon and Facebook appear right after YouTube. However, not everything revolves around these well-known names. Fun surprises like ChatGPT and Wordle also appear in the list, demonstrating the power of trends and new technology in our search results.

Looking at these most searched words gives us insight into what people are thinking about. Personally, I find this list super useful when creating content and developing a marketing strategy that will deliver the maximum value to the business. My key findings so far are as follows:

  • YouTube has a 4.5% higher traffic share than Facebook, but traffic from both search terms is decreasing, with “YouTube” losing 1.3% and “Facebook” decreasing by 3.19% between January and March 2024.
  • Amazon has 1.5% of the top keywords’ traffic, with organic sources accounting for 64.7%. The traffic increased by 2.5% between January and April, with paid advertising accounting for 87.6% of that growth.
  • More than 19% of the top 100 searches are about sports, with English football accounting for 7% of that total. The term “NBA” has the highest search volume, with an average of 90 million monthly searches.
  • “Weather” is the fifth most searched-for keyword. This term received 148 million searches per month, and variations of it are among the top 100 search terms in several languages.

Based on my practice at the SEO Expert company, I can say for sure that knowing the terms that are most searched on Google gives you a big advantage over your competitors. Thus, you can spot trends and adjust your marketing strategy accordingly. So what do people Google more often?
